Data notes
Annual indicators use World Development Indicators. Latest available selects each economy’s newest observation within the last ten years; it can compare different years. Choose a reference year for a like-for-like period. Annual series are available from 2000 where reported, and may be revised. Missing data is not zero.
Colors divide the available values into approximately five equal-sized groups within the selected region. Darker blue means a higher value, not a better result. Gray means no observation for this selection. Country rankings include economies and territories; aggregate regions are excluded. Small territories may be represented by a marker or found in the country selector. Boundaries are for statistical visualization and do not imply a position on legal status.
Interest rates are the latest available BIS policy references for its covered economies. Reference instruments vary; the U.S. series uses a target-range midpoint and China’s series uses a lending benchmark. Euro-area members share the ECB reading. History uses month-end readings, followed by the latest daily reference where available. Euro-area members show the shared policy history only from their adoption date. Countries without a covered series remain blank. This view is not a complete inventory of all central banks.
Inflation and unemployment are annual measures rather than the latest monthly releases. Unemployment uses modeled ILO estimates. Government debt covers central government, not all levels of general government; debt coverage is limited. GDP in current U.S. dollars is affected by exchange rates. Historical lines leave gaps where annual observations are missing.
Annual data is checked daily and policy references hourly while the page is open or on a later visit. Updates follow source publication and may be delayed. The last successful snapshot is retained when a request fails. The ten latest published economic articles are checked every five minutes while this page is visible.
