What does total crypto market capitalization measure?
Market capitalization is price multiplied by circulating supply. The total adds the assets covered by the data source. It is not the amount of money invested in the market, and different sources cover different assets.
How should I read Fear and Greed and Altcoin Season?
The fear-and-greed reading shown here focuses on Bitcoin sentiment. FOLITIC Altcoin Season measures the share of eligible large altcoins that beat Bitcoin over the same 90-day window. At least 75% indicates altcoin season; 25% or less indicates Bitcoin season. Neither indicator predicts the next price move.
Is FOLITIC 20 the CoinMarketCap 20 Index?
No. FOLITIC 20 is a separate research measure. It shows the equal-weight price performance of the current 20 largest eligible coins, rebased to 100 at the start of the displayed 90-day period. It is not the CMC20, a tradable product or a strategy backtest.
Are ETF flows, volume and open interest the same?
No. ETF flows measure money entering or leaving funds through share creations and redemptions. Volume measures trading activity during a period. Open interest measures outstanding derivative contracts at a point in time.
How fresh are the figures?
Every panel identifies its available date. Spot prices and derivatives statistics are checked periodically; sentiment and basket calculations follow their daily observations, while ETF flows are published after the relevant market close. Data may be delayed or revised. A missing reading is not zero.

Market totals, prices and daily close histories: CoinLore. The top strip shows Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB, Solana and XRP; sparklines cover the latest 30 completed daily closes, while changes compare the latest price with 24 hours earlier.
FOLITIC Altcoin Season selects the 50 largest eligible non-Bitcoin assets from the current top-100 list. Stablecoins, gold-pegged tokens and identified wrapped or staked duplicates are excluded. Each eligible coin needs a valid close on exactly the same two dates, 90 days apart, as Bitcoin. Missing histories are excluded, not counted as underperformance. The score requires at least 40 measured coins.
FOLITIC 20 uses the current 20 largest eligible assets, including Bitcoin. Each has a 5% initial weight at the displayed base date. Level = 100 × average(current daily close / base-date close). The basket is selected using current rankings, so this is a retrospective comparison with selection bias, not a historical investable index. The current basket and base date can change on recalculation. Fees, trading costs and dividends are not included.
