Access through an existing account programme

Voya announced on July 7, 2026 that it was expanding private asset capabilities within its adviser managed accounts programme. The initial investment options included Voya’s V ALT collective trusts and Blue Owl’s Alternative Credit and Real Estate Net Lease CITs.

The announcement gives registered investment advisers a broader set of possible building blocks for eligible plan participants. Availability on a platform does not mean that every participant has been allocated to those investments or that a particular plan permits them.

Distribution changes who makes the allocation decision

FOLITIC analysis: A managed account can place portfolio construction decisions with a professional adviser rather than requiring each participant to choose an alternative fund directly. That may simplify the participant experience, but it increases the importance of understanding the adviser’s selection process, fees and ongoing monitoring.

The assessment should include the entire account. Adding private credit or property alongside existing public funds can introduce overlapping economic exposures, even if the products have different names. The investor’s liquidity needs and expected withdrawals remain relevant to the way the account is constructed.

What would make the expansion useful

The value lies in suitable implementation and clear communication, rather than the number of products offered. Plan sponsors can ask how the adviser determines eligibility, sizes less liquid positions and changes allocations when participant circumstances evolve. The platform announcement establishes a distribution route. Actual adoption, investment results and the quality of oversight require separate evidence over time.
