A dated account of portfolio performance
In its April 10, 2026 investor letter, Third Point reported a 0.6% decline for its flagship Offshore Fund during the first quarter. MasTec, Siemens Energy, Keysight Technologies, Carpenter Technology and Casey’s General Stores were listed as the five largest positive contributors.
The letter named CoStar, Capital One, Somnigroup, Amazon and CRH among the largest detractors, excluding hedges. These are performance contributions for a past period, not a list of newly purchased or recently sold securities.

Contribution and conviction are different measures
FOLITIC analysis: A holding can contribute strongly because it rose sharply, because the position was large, or because it was held during a favourable portion of the period. The contributor list alone does not separate those effects. It also does not reveal whether the manager increased or reduced the position afterward.
For investors following an active manager, the useful question is whether the returns arise from a repeatable process or a small number of concentrated outcomes. That requires a broader record than one quarter and attention to losing positions as well as winners.
Why this belongs in a research file
The letter provides a historical explanation of the strategy’s experience, not a current model portfolio. It should be read with subsequent reports and the fund’s full risk and performance disclosures. Copying selected names would omit hedges, position sizing, timing and other investments, so it cannot be assumed to reproduce the manager’s returns even if the companies themselves remain attractive.
