An infrastructure launch with an active mandate
Man Group announced the launch of the Man Active Global Infrastructure ETF, ticker MGIN, on September 24, 2026. The product became its fifth ETF in the US wealth market. The manager described an eligible universe of more than 700 listed companies and an intended portfolio of approximately 40 to 60 core positions.
The mandate spans energy, utilities, digital infrastructure, transportation and related businesses. Those are investment categories rather than a promise that every sector or country will receive equal weight.

What the launch changes for investors
FOLITIC analysis: A large research universe can still produce a concentrated fund. The practical question is which businesses survive the selection process and how much the largest positions contribute to risk. Forty companies exposed to similar financing conditions can behave less diversely than their number suggests.
Infrastructure also combines different economic models. A regulated utility, a communications tower owner and a transportation operator can respond differently to inflation, borrowing costs and demand. Comparing their earnings drivers is more useful than treating infrastructure as a single defensive trade.
The evidence to follow
The first portfolio disclosures, sector weights and trading spreads will help establish how the strategy works in practice. A new fund has little operating history, so an investment thesis should not substitute the manager’s broader reputation for evidence from this particular portfolio. Listed infrastructure remains equity exposure and can lose value even when the underlying assets provide essential services.
