A new structured credit ETF
Franklin Templeton announced the Franklin BSP CLO ETF, ticker YCLO, on June 4, 2026. The actively managed fund aims to invest predominantly in investment grade collateralized loan obligation debt tranches in US and European markets. Franklin Advisers manages the fund with subadvisory services from Benefit Street Partners.
The stated objectives are capital preservation and current income. They describe what the strategy seeks to achieve, rather than a guarantee of principal or a fixed level of income.

Why the tranche matters
FOLITIC analysis: A CLO distributes cash from a portfolio of loans through a payment hierarchy. Debt tranches have different priorities and protections, so two securities linked to the same underlying loans can carry very different risks. The investment grade label does not make all of these exposures interchangeable.
Investors evaluating this launch should look for the distribution of ratings, portfolio concentration and exposure to weaker borrowers beneath the securities. Stress can appear through declining loan prices or reduced trading liquidity before a payment default occurs in a senior tranche.
What to compare with existing credit holdings
The relevant comparison includes income after expenses, sensitivity to changing short term rates and the ability to trade the ETF near its asset value. An ETF can be easy to buy on an exchange while its underlying securities trade less frequently. That distinction matters when markets become unsettled and quoted spreads widen. The launch broadens product choice, but the portfolio documents determine the actual risk being added.
