The development
Chainalysis reported on October 5, 2026 that AI related tokens had become the largest defined thematic category of Korean won crypto trading volume by June. Its study covers July 2025 through June 2026. The report also notes that its thematic buckets do not account for every traded token, so the ranking should not be read as a complete classification of the market.

FOLITIC analysis
A sector narrative can attract traders before it creates durable demand for a product. For AI tokens, the useful distinction is between activity in the token and activity in the service it is meant to support. Buying a token because it is associated with computing does not establish that customers are paying to use that network.
Regional concentration can amplify this gap. A token may trade actively on a small group of venues while liquidity elsewhere remains limited. Headline volume should be considered alongside executable order book depth, the concentration of market makers and restrictions on moving funds between venues.
The connection between adoption and token value must also be explicit. A project can generate fees while directing little economic benefit to token holders. New issuance and unlocks can offset demand. The relevant analysis therefore moves from the popularity of a theme to the specific rights, supply schedule and financial design of each asset.
What to watch
Compare future sector activity with verified usage, fee generation and changes in circulating supply. Avoid assuming that an unidentified large wallet represents a new institution or that every transfer is a trade. The report provides evidence of a historical trading preference, not a ranking of investment quality.
