The development
The Ethereum Foundation’s September 28, 2026 announcement scheduled Glamsterdam for Sepolia on October 6. The notice did not set dates for Hoodi or Ethereum mainnet. Its headline changes include bringing proposer and builder separation into the protocol, introducing block level access lists and revising gas accounting. The published schedule is a testing milestone, not confirmation of a mainnet launch.

FOLITIC analysis
The investment question is whether greater execution capacity can be achieved without placing impractical requirements on the operators validating the network. More capacity can improve application usability, but the relationship between network activity, transaction fees and ETH value is not mechanically proportional.
A change to gas accounting can also create winners and losers among existing applications. Two contracts that complete a similar task may consume different resources. Developers need to understand the revised costs rather than rely on an old transaction limit or a fixed assumption about execution expense.
The separation of block construction from proposing changes responsibilities across the infrastructure stack. It therefore deserves operational testing rather than a simple label of faster or cheaper. Client diversity, validator participation and the behavior of applications under realistic load are relevant evidence. A scheduled test alone cannot establish those outcomes.
What to watch
Watch for official client compatibility notices, test results and a separate mainnet activation announcement. Keep proposed capacity improvements distinct from measured results. The Foundation notice used here leaves mainnet timing open, so a specific launch date should not be inferred from Sepolia’s schedule.
